Figure 1: Comparison between gene expression upregulation and transcription factor binding sites. For all genes involved in human ribosome biogenesis dynamics targeted by one of the three transcription factors, NRF1, ELK1 and HIF1A, the difference in the mean log2 expression values between the the tumors and the normal colon biopsies were plotted against the number of transcription factor binding sites for the three transcription factors mentioned above. There was a significant increase in over-expression as a function of the number of binding sites. The regression line was plotted in red. The intercept is 0.78 and the coefficient is 0.118 ($p$ = 0.03).
